Alumni Talk: Inspiring Journeys, Real Insights

Alumni Talk: Inspiring Journeys, Real Insights

As part of Orientation Week, ellen organized an Alumni Talk to welcome new admissions and introduce them to real-world experiences from former students. The session aimed to motivate newcomers by sharing honest journeys, career paths, and lessons learned beyond the classroom.

The interaction helped students gain clarity, confidence, and a realistic understanding of life after college.

Purpose of the Alumni Talk

The main purpose of the alumni talk was to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice. By listening to alumni who once stood where they are today, new students were able to understand how education, skills, and perseverance shape successful careers in design.

The session also highlighted multiple career paths — from jobs to entrepreneurship — helping students see the wide range of opportunities available after graduation.

Alumni Speakers – Interior Design (Batch 2020)

Students from the 2020 Interior Design batch shared their professional journeys and insights:

  • Krati Jain – Founder of Pariharaa Interiors, spoke about building her own startup, client handling, and the challenges of entrepreneurship.

  • Dhruvi Gehlot – Working professional, shared her experience of transitioning from college to industry and adapting to professional work environments.

  • Vipul Sharma – Working professional, discussed job readiness, skill development, and the importance of practical learning during college years.

Their stories helped students understand both the responsibilities and rewards of working in the interior design industry.

Alumni Speakers – Fashion Design (Batch 2021)

From the 2021 Fashion Design batch, alumni shared diverse career journeys:

  • Somya Agarwal – Currently working with Pantaloons, spoke about corporate fashion roles, teamwork, and industry expectations.

  • Vikas Prajapat – Founder of Cherie Couturee, shared insights into starting a fashion label and building a brand from scratch.

  • Barkha Agarwal – Founder of Shiptosh Fashion, spoke about entrepreneurship, creativity, and managing a fashion business.

Their experiences showcased how fashion education can lead to both corporate and entrepreneurial success.

Student Interaction and Learning

Newly admitted students actively engaged in the session, asking questions about career choices, internships, skill development, and industry challenges. The alumni openly shared advice, encouraging students to stay consistent, explore opportunities, and make the most of their college journey.

The session helped students feel more confident and motivated as they begin their academic path.

The Alumni Talk during Orientation Week was an inspiring and meaningful experience for new admissions. It reinforced the importance of learning, hard work, and adaptability while offering real examples of success across design disciplines.

Such interactions strengthen the institute’s learning ecosystem by connecting past experiences with future aspirations and guiding students as they take their first steps into the world of design.
